Mr. Johnson Opigo graduated in 1983 from the University of Calabar with a B.Sc. Degree in Economics. However he started life after graduation as a freelance Graphic Artist which he combined with managing the Sawmill Division of the family business. After four years he was in the employment of the Rivers State Government Newspaper Corporation, first as a Graphic Artist and later as a Features Writer on Economic Affairs in the Editorial department.
His three year stint in journalism ended in 1990 when he secured an appointment as a pioneer staff of Crystal Bank of Africa (now in combination with UBA as Standard Trust Bank) rising rapidly through the ranks to the position of Deputy Manager, a position he held until he left the banking profession in 1995 to set up his ICT consultancy company, Net Endeavours Ltd. He found comfort in Information Technology where he has so far spent 30 years as a consultant in ICT training, web design, web development, and mobile technologies.
Mr. Opigo has over the years consulted for several high net-worth individuals, banks, employers’ associations, manufacturing companies, oil companies, Ministries and Agencies of the Federal Government as well as State governments, and international organizations including the International Chamber of Commerce Nigeria (ICCN), United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) where he taught courses in Innovative Collaboration for Development and as a trainer for the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation, Netherlands (CTA) where he facilitated training workshops in Web Design, Web Development and Web 2.0 technologies and applications in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific countries.
He has over 17 years of combined experience as a Consultant for the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Geneva and the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), Netherlands where he was also the Coordinator of all CTA’s Trainers in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific countries in addition to his portfolio as Lead Trainer for Nigeria.
