Mwatima is a Rural Development Specialist retired from International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD). Now she is a full-time permaculture organic farmer with experience as an Agroecology organic farmer activist and environmentalist. She obtained a Ph.D. in agronomy. from Wye College, University of London, and a BSc from Sokoine University of Agriculture Morogoro, Tanzania.
She is the chair of the Tanzania Organic Agriculture Movement and participated in several discussions and awareness against the use of industrial chemicals in our farming and taking care of our soils for sustainable production. She is also the board chair for Practical permaculture institute Zanzibar where actively engaged youth focus on social enterprises and permaculture training. Mwatima is also a chair of the Forum for African Women Educationalist Zanzibar chapter. (FAWE) focusing on girls’ education, women’s empowerment, and youth entrepreneurs.
Her team spirit and the ability to engage with teams and tap into her extensive institutional memory and connection are assets for ACIDC to reach its intended goal.
